PRESS RELEASE: FOR FORWARD PLANNING DIARIES

Business In Sport and Leisure today announce details of their Annual Conference and Exhibition. With an exciting line-up of themes and speakers the conference will take place on Thursday 30th November 2006 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.

The four key topics of the conference will be:

• Building the 2012 Games and the Tourism and Sports Legacies for the next 30 years

• Licensing – A Year On - Twelve months on from the introduction of the Licensing Act 2003, is the law now clear?

• Re-inventing Sport on TV – Analysis of the impact of televised sport on business, our leisure time and on our support for sport.

• A new Casino age – where will the new Regional Casino be located and what has the process raised as challenges to the implementation of the Gambling Act 2005

BISL will unite leading figures from the forefront of these issues, to debate and discuss the implications for the future of the industry. In particular, BISL will chair a discussion on the upcoming decision on the regional casino with representatives from four local authorities who have been shortlisted to host the casino. • Shaun Woodward MP is Minister for Creative Industries and Tourism at DCMS. He also has responsibility for liquor licensing. He will talk about the first year of the Licensing Act, the 2012 consultation and other tourism issues
• Martin Robinson is Chairman of Centre Parks and of De Vere Hotels, Holmes Place and on the Board of Euro Disney. Centre Parks have recently launched an appeal against a refusal to grant planning permission for a new centre parks in Bedfordshire
• Geof Collyer is Managing Director of Pan European Research for Deutsche Bank who specialises in leisure, pubs, hotel and gaming
• The panel on ‘Licensing – A Year On’ will be chaired by Susanna FitzGerald QC with a range of local authority and industry speakers
• The panel on ‘A new Casino age’ will be chaired by Neil Goulden, Chairman of BISL and Chief Executive of the Gala Coral Group. Speakers will include the Chief Executives of Sheffield City Council and representatives of Manchester, Cardiff and Blackpool, who are all shortlisted to host the one regional casino
• Roger Mosey is the Director of Sport for BBC Television
