How Does BISL Work?
BISL promotes the interests - and the profile, awareness and image - of the sport and leisure sector. We target in particular Government Ministers and Departments and public agencies, as we seek change - our aim is to protect and grow the market.
BISL works with and through its members. We communicate through the following channels:
- "The Active Annual" - BISL's Handbook
- BISL Annual Conference - the industry's main Conference event, each year - this year, on 10 November 2010 at Lord's Cricket Ground
- Quarterly Newsletter - distributed to Members, MPs and partner organisations
- Circulars - distributed to all members by post or e-mail
- Daily updates of press releases, snapshot information, member updates at www.bisl.org
- Member Meetings 4-5 times a year
- Policy Lunches, Breakfast Briefings, Workshops
- "Sport & Leisure Industry News" - an e-zine circulated through the industry, 2-3 times a month
- Regular & frequent e-letters to members - with up to date news, briefings.
Business In Sport and Leisure is a company limited by guarantee. John Brackenbury CBE is Life President of BISL. BISL has an Executive Chairman, David Teasdale, an Executive Director, Andy Sutch, a Marketing & Gambling Executive, Steve McKenna, Francesca Chin-Lewis, Political Advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Leisure Group and Sports Caucus and a full time Membership Services Manager, Amanda Fry.
BISL's strategic aims and objectives are set by a Board of Directors (in full consultation with members and the wider industry). The Board comprises leading figures in the sport and leisure sector, elected by members at the AGM.
