The next Gaming Group meeting will be on Wednesday 16th June 2010 at 2.00 pm at Jeffrey Green Russell, Waverley House, 7-12 Noel Street, London W1.
The BISL Gaming Working Group is a uniquely cross-sector forum for the gambling industry in the UK and includes operators of casinos, bingo, betting, online, pools, greyhound and horse-racing, snooker and ten-pin bowling, pubs and the suppliers of gaming machines. It took a key role in guiding BISL’s lead on implementation of the Gambling Act 2005, particularly on responses to the many related consultations. The Working Group has been informed by several major studies on the gaming industry since 2000, most recently commissioning research from KPMG in partnership with the ABB and BACTA on licence fee levels. BISL was responsible for the Gambling Industry Code for Socially Responsible Advertising and has a strong interest in social responsibility initiatives. BISL also coordinates regular roundtable meetings between senior industry representatives, DCMS and the Gambling Commission
Current issues on the Gaming agenda:
- Triennial Review of Stakes and Prizes
- In 2006, BISL led the lobbying effort that successfully secured the early implementation of the last partial review of stakes and prizes. We are again at the forefront of the drive to persuade the Government to re-introduce a permanent Triennial Review with work starting this year and the results of the review fully implemented early in 2009.
- Prevalence Study
- BISL will again be involved in the development of the next Prevalence Study in 2011.
- Gambling Act 2005
- The Gaming Group monitors and comments on the implementation of the Gambling Act 2005, feeding back to the Gambling Commission and DCMS through the CEO and senior representatives.
- Review of Research, Education and Treatment
